Frazier varsity boys drop the home opener

Game Date
Dec 14, 2021
Score
COMMODORES: 37
SOUTHMORELAND HIGH SCHOOL: 55

The Southmoreland Scotties went on an early run to start and never looked back to defeat the Commodores 55 to 37. The Commodores found themselves trailing 22 to 11 at the end of the 1st Quarter.

“You aren’t going to win a ton of games only scoring 37 points,” Zach Keefer said, “we have to take better care of the basketball and that is one thing we are unfortunately going to have to learn on the fly.”

Southmoreland continued to roll in the second Quarter outscoring the Commodores 14 to 8, bringing the score at halftime to 19 to 36. In the third, the commodores fought back and outscored the Scotties 10 to 4.

“We have a lot of inexperience on the floor right now, we are really working through some flaws and trying to get through some different combinations to see what works for us,” Keefer said, “We were back at full strength as far as our roster goes, this was really their first game playing together as a team. We have to be patient with it, we can’t get too frustrated.”

In the fourth, the Scotties ran away with it outscoring the commodores 15 to 8. The leading scorer for the Commodores was Thompson with 9 and for the Scotties it was Keefer leading the way with 16.

“We have to learn and grow from this and be better because of it,” Keefer said, “we are going to get back in the lab so to speak tomorrow look at some film, get back out on the court and get better because of this.”

The Commodores will be back in action on Friday at Home Vs Mapletown at 7 Pm.
